New York, NY – October 16, 2024 – The Stella Adler Studio of Acting announces a new one-week program offered in January 2025, the Business of Acting Winter Immersion. This thirty-hour intensive was created to provide a comprehensive guide to navigating the complex world of the acting industry.
Said Artistic Director Tom Oppenheim, “This program, whose subtitle is– Making a Living, Creating a Life–emerges directly out of the spirit of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, and our devotion to helping our students navigate the complicated terrain of commercial theater, film and television, while keeping their humanity intact, and their creative vision whole.”
This course covers essential topics such as headshots, resumes, auditions, and the process of securing representation with agents and managers. Students will gain practical tools and strategies to effectively market themselves, understand the expectations of casting directors, and prepare for successful auditions in theater, film, television, and commercials. The course also emphasizes the importance of digital presence and self-promotion in today’s industry. By the end of the course, students will have a clearer understanding of their career path and the next steps needed to thrive in the business of acting.
The Business of Acting Winter Immersion was developed by the Studio’s Director of Professional Development, Melissa Maxwell. Maxwell is also the Co-Associate Artistic Director of the Great River Shakespeare Festival, and a freelance director, writer, actor, filmmaker, and motivational speaker.

Additional winter programs offered by the Studio include the Musical Theater Winter Immersion in New York and the On-Camera Winter Immersion in Los Angeles. These intensive short-term winter courses are designed for students preparing for the upcoming audition season, seeking further education in between semesters of college, or simply looking to sharpen their technique and expand their imagination.
