Ronald K. Alexander

Movement

Ronald K. Alexander is a dance educator, administrator, consultant, activist and choreographer. Performed with the following ballet companies:  The National Ballet of Canada, Toronto, Ontario,Canada, the Frankfurt and Hamburg Ballets, Germany and the Metropolitan Opera Ballet New York, NY.  He has held artistic and administrative positions at the following:  Chairman, Dance Department, Harlem School of the Arts, Harlem, NY, Principal, High School of the Contemporary Arts, Bronx, NY, School Administrator, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Harlem, NY, and Director of Education, Youth Arts Academy,  Bed-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, NY.  He has taught ballet and choreographed at the following: the Hamburg Ballet, the Ailey School, Harlem School of the Arts, the Marymount and Adelphi University Dance Departments,  Clark Center for the Performing Arts, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and the Restoration Arts Youth Arts Academy, among others. Mr. Alexander has a MFA in Dance, Tisch School of the Arts, New York University.  He was the subject of Five Teachers, Five Venues, a 2011 article in Dance Magazine.  He is currently on faculty at the following:  The Ailey School, Stella Adler School of Acting and the Black Arts Institute.  He is on the board of the New York City Arts in Education Roundtable and a member of the New York Dance and Performance Award, the Bessies.
