Kate Bushmann

Kate Bushmann “teaches with the soul of an actor and the eye of a director,” says one student. She studied acting for six years under the legendary acting guru Uta Hagen — a contemporary of Stella Adler — and has appeared professionally Off-Broadway, regionally, and in films, commercials and industrials for more than 30 years. Her career as a director and dramaturg spans two decades and is mostly devoted to new play development, and she will direct her fourth world premiere for Abingdon Theatre Company in February 2012: Jan Buttram’s Lost on the Natchez Trace. She is a longtime acting coach and has taught master classes at Michigan State University and for Austin Pendleton, Matthew Arkin and others at HB Studio, and holds a BFA in Theatre from Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri.
