Stella Adler Studio Summer Programs

Every summer, the Stella Adler Studio of Acting opens its doors and invites students around the country to participate in Summer Intensive courses, in order to enhance their acting with world-class training and introduce them to the cultural capital of the world. The studio is known for having one of the most diverse selections of summer programming offering valuable training for actors. All classes are taught by our accomplished faculty and housed at our main studio in Lower Manhattan and surrounding campus locations. Summer Conservatory

June 7 – August 13, 2021 – 2021 Dates Announced!
10 Weeks, 22 Hours a Week
The Summer Conservatory is the most popular summer training program in the nation. It is a foundation-building course which approximates a full term of our NYU Tisch School of the Arts program and explores the core elements of conservatory style training. It is officially approved by the National Association of Schools of Theatre as a summer program.

Chekhov Intensive

July 6 – August 7, 2020
5 Weeks, 16 Hours a Week
The Stella Adler Studio has created an advanced-level intensive which endeavors to illuminate modern realism through the lens of its greatest practitioner, Anton Chekhov. The course is centered on Chekhov Scene Study, supplemented by daily physical and vocal work.

Musical Theater Intensive

July 12 – August 7, 2020
4 Weeks, 20.5 Hours a Week
The Musical Theater Intensive is a cutting edge, four-week course providing rigorous musical theater training anchored in the core belief of the Stella Adler Studio, that growth as an actor and growth as a human being are synonymous. Impassioned acting rooted in craft is most essential in the pivotal moment when a scene becomes a song.

Black Arts Institute: 25in25 Virtual Intensive

July 6 – August 7, 2020
5 Weeks, 25 Hours a Week
The 25in25 Virtual Summer Intensive series consists of 25 sessions over 25 days in 5 weeks that offers you exclusive access to top-tier professionals in the fields of theater, film, TV, dance, and history from across the world. The Black Arts Institute provides a sacred virtual space to connect with a select group of students from across the world within the Black Arts Institute’s mission of  training theater artists in becoming vibrant and contributing members that celebrate and champion the exquisite diversity of local, national and global arts’ communities in the 21st century through the lens of the Black Theater Canon.

Film & Television Acting Intenisve (LA)

July 6 – August 7, 2020
5 Weeks – 20 Hours of Class Per Week
This five-week intensive held in Los Angeles at the Art of Acting Studio is designed to help the actor address, de-mystify, and master the challenges they face in audition, on set, and on location, in all film and digital media. This program includes the finest Master Teachers in Los Angeles, and students will take classes in such topics as On Camera Scene Study, Film Technique, From the Script to the Sound Stage, and Movement Techniques for Motion Capture.

Teen Summer Conservatory

July 6 – August 7, 2020
5 Weeks, 20 Hours a Week
For actors ages 14-18, this is an extremely demanding program that has been specifically designed for the most talented and ambitious young actors, and is taught by the same world-class faculty that teach our NYU and Conservatory students.

Shakespeare Intensive

June 1 – July 2, 2020
5 Weeks, 30 Hours a Week
The master teacher for this important intensive is James Tripp, our Head of Acting, whom Stella Adler personally selected to teach Shakespeare. Offered in the summer only, this is a six-week, 30-hour per week intensive designed for the advanced actor to further develop his/her sense of epic size of theatre.

Self-Generated Theater Intensive

5 Weeks, 22 Hours a Week Class + Rehearsal
The Self-Generated Theater Intensive offers ways and means to take charge of your life as a theater artist. It offers proactive and effective techniques for creating and producing theater pieces, both solo and ensemble, that will facilitate creative power, self-generated work, and a profound sense of a place in the world as an actor and theater artist.
