The Musical Theatre Winter Immersion is an effective two-week training program that prepares actors for the 2019 Summer Stock Audition Circuit and upcoming professional auditions. After two week’s time, students develop potent audition material unique to their style and ability, while sharpening both their interpretive skills as well as their ability to absorb and perform material more efficiently in the Summer Stock routine.

Led by a world-class faculty including Stephen McKinley Henderson, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Phylicia Rashad and Michelle Shay and Sonia Sanchez, the Black Arts Winter Immersion is a week-long comprehensive review of the history of the contemporary Black theater tradition, highlighting certain key historical moments like the Harlem Renaissance, the Black Power movement and the genesis of the Negro Ensemble Company. The purpose is to walk away with an understanding of the aesthetic and sociological components involved in bringing contemporary Black theater to life. Classes include Script Analysis, Scene Study, Movement and Dance, an open lecture series and more.
